Over 40 Years of Faith & Community
Founded in the heart of the Bronx on February 12, 1984, Mount Carmel Pentecostal Church has been a beacon of hope, healing, and Holy Spirit power for over four decades.
Our Mission
To glorify God through Spirit-filled worship, to make disciples of all nations, and to serve our community with the love of Christ. We believe in the full gospel — salvation, sanctification, Holy Spirit baptism, divine healing, and the return of Christ.
Our Vision
To build a new sanctuary that reflects our growth and commitment to this community — a physical home worthy of our spiritual family. Our building project represents 40+ years of seeds planted and a harvest coming to fruition.
Our Leadership
Bishop Joseph A. Manning
On Sunday, February 12, 1984, Bishop Joseph A. Manning birthed Mount Carmel Pentecostal Church in the Bronx, New York. Having no facility for worship, he utilized his humble home for the first fellowship service with only 20 persons in attendance. Under his guidance, the congregation grew and moved to the residence of founding member Missionary Winifred George, then to a facility at 3395 White Plains Road — where 53 persons attended that first service on March 11, 1984. In 1999 he passed the baton to his daughter, Pastor Judith Esdaille, to continue the vision and dream he had pioneered.
First Lady Cynthia Manning
Alongside her husband, the late Bishop Joseph A. Manning, First Lady Cynthia Manning was a cornerstone of the early church family. Under their joint guidance, the small congregation was spiritually enhanced and stirred to action — growing from a home fellowship into a thriving community of faith. Her dedication helped lay the foundation that Mount Carmel stands upon today.
Pastor Judith Esdaille
Pastor Judith Esdaille began her ministry as a Sunday school teacher, superintendent, choir director, and youth president. Ordained as an evangelist in 1989, and as an Elder and Associate Pastor in 1997, she received the baton from her father, the late Bishop Joseph A. Manning, in 1999 to continue his vision. Wife to Elder Moulton Esdaille and mother of two, she lives by the words of Jesus in John 9:4 — "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day."
Elder Moulton Esdaille
Elder Moulton Esdaille is a Bible teacher and Church Administrator born the oldest of five to the late Rev. & Mrs. John Esdaille of Charlestown, Nevis, West Indies. He served as District Youth Vice President, taught at Charlestown High School, and later migrated to the U.S. to earn a degree from Houghton College and certification as a Medical Technologist. As Proverbs 16:9 declares, the Lord directs our steps — and Elder Esdaille has submitted gracefully to His divine will.
